About Downtown London:
Downtown London is a not-for-profit Business Improvment Area and Revitalization organzation implemented to improve the experience of existing downtown merchants and their customers. SuperGuides Program Description:
The SuperGuide Program is a customer service, public relations, and marketing initiative designed to provide a welcoming presence to the streets of downtown London and act as a liaison between Downtown London and downtown merchants and organizations.
SuperGuides also provide another set of eyes and ears on the street to maintain the downtown database and inform various stakeholders of recent downtown developments. This year, SuperGuides will also be responsible for implementing a new marketing consultation program designed to aid downtown businesses that need marketing strategies and advice tailored for the unique and dynamic downtown atmosphere.
Position Summary:
SuperGuides are responsible for providing positive and knowledgeable hospitality and tourism assistance and advice regarding Downtown London to businesses, residents, patrons and visitors by patrolling the streets on foot and getting first-hand experience of downtown. This position requires initiative, creativity and the desire to go above and beyond the call of duty.
The SuperGuide position is a full-time summer position. SuperGuides are expected to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. Short notice availability is ideal.
Preferred Qualifications:
SuperGuides must possess post secondary education or experience in the fields of Hospitality/Tourism/Public Relations/Customer Service or Community Services; be physically fit; and capable of walking up to 8 hours a day in all weather conditions. SuperGuides must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a passion for customer service, a positive attitude and a friendly, outgoing personality. A working knowledge of basic marketing principles and online social media is also considered an asset.
Incumbents must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, in a team environment, as well as individually, with minimal supervision. Fluency in other languages in addition to English is considered an asset. Further, you must be returning to full-time post-secondary education in the fall of 2012.
Knowledge of downtown London is essential.
