Visual Negotiations at the Gibson Gallery

Opening Reception on Saturday, June 1 from 2-4pm.  Artist will be present Catalogue will be available with conversation between Roly Fenwick & Harold Klunder Roly Fenwick's Artist Statement "Spiritual Anchorage" Born homesick with a natural tendency to internalize, I eventually realized that my world was a landscape to go deep into to see if I could get out. A blank canvas became a personal field to do battle with stimulations, experiences, connections and to record the passion. This negotiating with nature has become a visual collection of “internal places”; places I keep after leaving, places of necessary memories and places that fit the skin. There to make the call it has been a refuge from the self-conscious and a process of survival. May 2013 Roly Fenwick was born in 1932 in Owen Sound, Ontario. A Professor Emeritus, Fenwick taught visual art at the University of Western Ontario from 1968-1989.  His work is in the collections of the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Tom Thomson Art Gallery, McIntosh Gallery, Museum London as well as corporate collections across Canada. Fenwick spends his summers at his cottage at Big Bay on the Bruce Peninsula. He spends the rest of the year at his home in London, Ontario.
