    Congratulations Fanshawe College and Kingsmill's!

Downtown London would like to congratulate both Fanshawe College & Kingsmill's on yesterday's proposal of expanding Fanshawe’s downtown campus! From their iconic building at 130 Dundas Street, Kingsmill’s has operated since 1865  downtown. During the 148 years of operation there were two devastating fires.  Both were seen by the Kingsmill family as opportunities to rebuild and expand the store. The present building was opened in September 1932, only 9 months after the previous building was destroyed by fire. Since then, Kingsmill's has been an international destination for home furnishings, fine china and collectibles, women’s, men’s and children’s fashions, cosmetics, linens, kitchen ware, and luggage as one of the last family-owned and operated department stores in Canada. Downtown London would like to thank the Kingsmill family for their ongoing support of downtown. Fanshawe's Centre for Digital and Performance Arts opened this year across from Kingsmill’s and has brought downtown more than 400 students and staff. The building is home to programs such as 3-D animation, interactive media design and production, technical costume design and theatre arts. A second building downtown would bring 1,600 more students to downtown London.  Congratulations Fanshawe College & Kingsmill's on this exciting expansion downtown.  Read Fanshawe College's Release Here.
