King Street Bus Lanes

Contraflow bus lane operations begin on King Street starting Monday, April 28

During this initial rollout, LTC Route 94 will begin travelling eastbound and westbound on King Street between Ontario Street and Wellington Street every 20 minutes during weekday peak periods. This provides a gradual rollout to help Londoners get used to westbound bus operations on King Street before Rapid Transit operations begin in 2027, following completion of the full East London Link corridor.

King Street remains one-way for general traffic and drivers are reminded to continue travelling eastbound only on King Street. Red paint, signs, arrows and other pavement markings have been installed through the corridor to help drivers recognize the bus-only transit lanes.
Friendly reminders:

  • Watch for red paint, signs, arrows and pavement markings to recognize bus lanes.
  • Look for the solid yellow line to your left on the road when driving, and do not cross it.
  • If an emergency vehicle is approaching from behind with lights and sirens on, drivers should safely pull over to the right to let it pass – even into a bus-only lane if needed – just as they would on any other street.
  • People walking, biking and driving are reminded to look both ways when crossing.
  • Parking, driving or stopping on the red bus lanes is not permitted and City Bylaw will continue to monitor and issue tickets.
  • Biking on the westbound bus lane is not permitted.
