London Downtown Business Association Board of Management

The London Downtown Business Association (LDBA) Board of Management consists of twelve Board members plus one City Councillor. Every four years, coinciding with the municipal elections, the LDBA issues a Call for Expressions of Interest for Board representation. The current term of office is 2023–2026.
  • Selection Process

A Board Selection Task Force oversees the selection process. This Task Force includes three non-board members and two board members, who:
    • Identify and recommend candidates based on a pre-determined matrix of competencies, skills, and diversity needs.
    • Review applications to address board succession priorities.
    • Present a slate of prospective candidates to the membership for approval at the AGM.

  • Ideal Board Member Criteria

Ideal candidates for the Board should:
    • Be a member of the BIA, either as a commercial property owner or commercial tenant.
    • Bring a positive attitude to enhance the reputation of London’s downtown.
    • Offer unique skill sets, such as expertise in finance, public relations, marketing, real estate, legal, retail, or urban planning.
    • Be recognized as a current or future leader in the district.
    • Understand complex organizations and governance.
    • Steward the organization through our 2021-2025 Strategic Plan and establish direction beyond.
    • Demonstrate good stewardship and governance through industry or community involvement.
    • Contribute reasoned opinions, work well in a team, and support Board decisions.
    • Be able to commit the time and resources required to serve on the Board and task forces.
    • Set aside personal agendas and work towards the betterment of London’s downtown.
    • Previous board experience is an asset in terms of policy setting and establishing strategic direction.
    • Support our strategic projects in member engagement and retention, unapologetic advocacy and placemaking.

  • Next Call for Expressions of Interest

The next Call for Expressions of Interest will take place in spring 2026. If you are interested in joining our board, please contact info@downtownlondon.ca.
