City of London Funding Programs

The following loans and grants are administered by the City of London and available to businesses located in the Downtown Community Improvement Plan. Please email CIPincentives@london.ca or visit the City's website for more details.

FACADE IMPROVEMENT LOAN - City of London Program
A loan from the City to improve building facades, including upgrades to windows, doors, brick repair, painting, lighting, and signage that is affixed to the façade. The loan will cover 50% of the cost of the improvements — up to a maximum of $50,000. This loan can be paid back at 0% interest over a 10-year period. In certain areas, a portion of the loan may be forgivable. Application must be completed by the building/property owner.

UPGRADE TO BUILDING CODE LOAN - City of London Program
A loan from the City for improvements to the interior of your building, including upgrades related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, roof, fire protection systems, and other Building Code related work. The loan will cover 50% of the cost of the improvements — up to a maximum of $200,000. This loan can be paid back at 0% interest over a 10-year period. In certain areas, a portion of the loan may be forgivable. Application must be completed by the building/property owner.
Canadian Urban Institute

The My Main Street Business Sustainability stream will provide a range of
business supports to approved main street business applicants. Supports
include custom market research reports, business training opportunities,
and non-repayable contributions of up to $20,000. Supports will be available
for businesses located on eligible main streets across southern Ontario that
demonstrate their sustainability and provide a business case on how the funding
will strengthen their existing capacity and support their continued growth.

Downtown London Grants FAQ

What is considered vandalism?

Willful destruction or damage to property. This could include: graffiti, broken windows, damaged storefront or patios, other defacement of property.
How do I know if I am a member of the Downtown London BIA?

If you are unsure if you are a member of the BIA, please reference our boundary map or contact Judith at judith@downtownlondon.ca for more information.
If I started the grant process before May 31, 2024, but did not submit all my invoices by that time will I still receive the grant?

Yes, all applicants that start the process before May 31, 2024 will still receive their grant upon submission of invoices as long as they are submitted by December 13, 2024. If this situation arises, please inform Downtown London staff. No new applications will be started for this phase starting May 31.
When should I expect to receive my grant money?

Payment will be processed once you have successfully gone through the grant application process and have submitted your approved payed invoices. It will typically take 5-8 business days to receive your grant money.
Can I submit invoices for work completed in previous years?

No. Only paid invoices from work initiated in 2024 are eligible for the 2024 Downtown London Grants.
How is Downtown London able to fund the 2024 grants?

Downtown London was able to secure funding from the City of London for the 2024 grants through strong advocacy efforts. Downtown London would like to acknowledge and thank the City of London for the provision of these funds to our BIA and in support of our members.
