$2500 in Free Commercial Kitchen and Small Business Refrigeration Efficiency Upgrades

As part of the Save on Energy Community Program Fund, London Hydro is offering a refrigeration equipment upgrade program targeting energy efficiency in commercial kitchens and Small Businesses.

Jeff Floyd of London Hydro has this to say about the Refrigeration Efficiency Program “This is a great way to engage experts to evaluate & install upgrades to kitchen and refrigeration equipment in businesses, restaurants & small to medium sized hotels”. Further he describes “It works much like the small business lighting program in that the labour and installation costs are all covered directly by the province and there is no need to lay out any cash if the installation is under $2500.”

REFRIGERATION EFFICIENCY PROGRAM FINE-TUNE YOUR SYSTEM
Each upgrade provides an opportunity to increase overall reliability and decrease energy use. Replace inefficient motors, reduce and control cold air loss and clear away dust and debris from key components. All upgrades are performed by a licensed contractor and arranged around your schedule, minimizing disruption.

LIGHTING
Replacing the bulbs in your refrigeration display cases with LEDs reduces the amount of energy required to keep products fresh. That’s because, unlike regular bulbs, LEDs emit virtually no heat. This means fridges can stop working overtime to keep merchandise cool. Displays will also appear brighter and products more visually appealing!

STRIP CURTAINS
Installing strip curtains is your best line of defence against unwanted humidity and excess energy consumption. Entering your walk-in coolers can let warm, humid air inside that can wreak havoc on the effective operation of your equipment.

Become a District Champion

The current pandemic has made significant changes to everything we do as a society, but on the positive, it has also shown us that power we hold when we work together and support one another. Communication has never been more important.

We understand that as small business owners, you are extremely busy. However, the team at Downtown London is looking for volunteers in each district to help strengthen the relationship between the BIA and members. We truly are in this together – and we want to hear from you!

Becoming a District Champion is not a large commitment. Here’s what you would have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Provide input on how the District Champion program should be designed
  • Support your district through direct, timely sharing of announcements
  • Become a collaborator with the BIA to advance the goals of your district
  • Understand and access valuable resources to share with your district
  • Engage with your neighbours and district members alongside with a BIA representative to help develop events specific to your area
  • As a District Champion, you would participate in one weekly 15 minute checkin with a BIA representative (at a time of your convenience) and a monthly group meeting to share ideas and relay messages on behalf of your district.

Please indicate interest by emailing Lisa at lisa@downtownlondon.ca by Friday October 9, 2020.
