Friday December 18

Our businesses have been getting extra creative this year to ensure everyone can enjoy downtown London dining in their own way, wherever they are!

Though hosting a ‘typical’ holiday dinner party is off the table, you can still have fun with your household or gather virtually and share these amazing and tasty options. From home dining kits and online cooking classes to gift baskets and dessert boxes, let your favourite London restaurants do the holiday heavy lifting this year!

Home Dining Kits

The YOU Made it Cafe has both Christmas dinner and New Years Eve appetizers covered!

The YOU Holiday Meal is a festive take-out option made up of locally sourced ingredients available in single or family sized portions. And to ring in the New Year, YOU Made It Cafe has a charcuterie-to-go box for every household size – everything you would need for a great spread is all included in one convenient package!

Order here until December 21 at 4pm for both meals, and pick up dates are listed on the Youth Opportunities Unlimited event page. All proceeds go to Youth Programming at Y.O.U., so pick up a holiday meal for your whole family while supporting local youth in career training! Vegetarian options are available.

London Wine Bar may have temporarily suspended their dine in service, but they are still cooking up delicious options for take out and delivery. They as well have created make-your-own charcuterie board kits, so you can celebrate the holidays and enjoy London Wine Bar at home.

Check out their delivery and take out menu here for other household platters and great wine pairings.

Gift Baskets

You can also find their list of gift baskets available for delivery; a great way to support local, check off the foodies on your list, and safely spread some holiday cheer. The River Room at Museum London has released their gift baskets for the holiday season as well, offering pre-made options or build-your-own sizes!

The Wine Gift Basket from the River Room.

They can include Premium bottles of wine, gift cards, a delectable assortment of confections, and other fun items. To build your own visit their website here.

Cooking Classes

If you’re in more of a hands-on mood, Hunter & Co. and Jill’s Table are both offering virtual classes and home dining kits to stay inspired in quarantine. All the ingredients are provided, and in some cases the tools as well. These classes can make great gifts for the amateur chefs in your life, or those who just yearn to learn. The best part is that they can be enjoyed together, virtually!

Email Hunter & Co. here to learn more, and visit Jill’s Table’s website here for more information.

Dessert Boxes

The most important part of any holiday meal is the desserts! To round off your palate, Haven’s Creamery has assembled Holiday Boxes to send out as gifts or indulge in yourself. You can purchase these on their online store or even here, through their Instagram page.

Happiness Cafe is also offering their limited edition holiday flavours in dessert gift boxes. Options range from truffles, to cakes, donuts, macarons, and more! Place your preorder here – Reminder: Orders close tonight (December 18) at Midnight.

While these are just a few options highlighted today, the opportunities are endless for great dining in Downtown London. Call your favourite local restaurant to see what options they have available! Or call a bunch and have your own family style feast at home.

Downtown London wishes you the happiest of holidays! Thank you for supporting local businesses and giving back to the community. See you in the new year! #SmallIsTheNewMall
